- A reference for material on magnetic circuits
-
The material on magnetic circuits is not covered in any of the
conventional text books on electric circuits. A reasonable reference is
the text book for EE3PI4:
- Chapman, Electric Machinery Fundamentals,
fourth edition, McGraw-Hill, 2005, pages 8-20 (and the top bit of page 21).
- Suggested problems from that book are (starting on page 56):
- 1.5, 1.6, 1.7
- 1.8, but use the fringing compensation model that we discussed in class
- 1.13, but use a fixed relative permeability of 2000.
- 1.14, but use a fixed relative permeability of 3000, and use the
fringing compensation model that we discussed in class
Various editions of Chapman's book are on reserve at the Thode Library.

- Node analysis question in today's lecture (Wed 7 Jan)
-
At the end of today's lecture I said that we had 11 unknowns and
10 equations, and that this was a problem. However, I miscounted.
There are only 10 unknowns, and hence the analysis is balanced.
I'm sorry for the confusion.

- Notice regarding email communication
-
Due to the large number of emails that I receive every
day, I have instituted a filter system for EE2CJ4.
In order to guarantee a response from me, you must include
the sequence "EE2CJ4" in the subject line of the email.
I am sorry for the inconvenience.
