  • ECE's 3rd annual TI Day @ Mac is on Sat Sept 20, 2014. This popular Texas Instruments event has been expanded this year, and the number of workshop topics has increased. The event is open to everyone. Undergrad students entering 4th year will find these workshops particularly beneficial for their capstone projects! Space is limited. Registration deadline is Sept 10.
  • May @ Mac - McMaster's annual campus-wide Open House is on Saturday May 10. We welcome high school students and their families to come chat with us!
  • Congratulations to the 2014 Poster Day prize winners! In the Biomed Eng category: 1st place NOISE (Neural Oscillation Identification & Signal Extraction); 2nd place "Serenity" Navigation system for the visually impaired; 3rd place "Stimuskel" Stroke rehabilitation device. In the Elec Eng category: 1st place Remote 3D Vision system; 2nd place Electric Trike; 3rd place Robotic Goalkeeper.   • Industry Night! ECES will be hosting their annual Industry Night on Thursday Jan 23, from 5:30 to 8:30 in ETB-124. Five companies will present, followed by a networking session.This is an excellent opportunity for undergrad students. Please register on OSCARplus, and join the event on Facebook.

  • Poster Day was a great success! Congratulations to all students involved - the projects were of a very high standard! The results of the competition are... for Electrical Eng: 1st=BLADES, 2nd=ElectroCruiser, 3rd=People Counting with IR camera; Computer Eng: 1st=Cartographer CNC System, 2nd = iEYE, 3rd = Lecture Me; and for BioMedical Eng: 1st=Hands-free Accessibiity Computer Interface, 2nd=Brain Computer Interface for Wheelchair Control, 3rd=Neotrace.
  • Level One students will be selecting their programs for next year in April. The ECE department Information Sessions will be held on Mon March 11 (Comp & Elec), and Wed March 13 (BioMed). These sessions begin with a presentation at 5:00pm in ITB-AB102 then move to ITB-A113 from 6:00-7:30pm for Q&A chat time. Level 1 students are encouraged to come get information about what the ECE department offers. Faculty members & current students will be there to answer questions.
  • ECE faculty, staff and Grad students had their Trim The Tree party on Thursday Dec 6, 2012. Our holiday wreath is also hanging on the dept office door, adorned with unique ECE-related items! Thanks to all those who helped make our tree beautiful!
  • Congratulations to ECE student Jacob Hopper and the Mac Marauders football team for winning 21 games in a row! Winning the Yates Cup on Nov 10, 2012 with a score of 30-13, and then The Mitchell Bowl on Nov 17, 2012 with a score of 45-6.
  • For students in biomed having issues with HTH SCI 2L03, please make sure you are adding the safety co-requisite.
  • When selecting ELECTIVES, please make sure you have all the necessary prereqs. If you are getting the following message, "You do not have the academic requisites for the course: ___ ___," then you need permission from the instructor.
  • ECE is offering a new course for ELEC ENG students ONLY to be used as their FACULTY OF ENGINEERING ELECTIVE.
    • ELEC ENG 4PM3- POWER PROTECTION
    • Introduction to power protection devices including relays, circuit
      breaker, power monitor, control devices and other components. Current
      Transformers, PTs and substation hardware will also be covered.

  • For level 2 Biomed students, CHEM 1AA3 is showing up as "full" in SOLAR. The Chemistry department will be manually adding seats for Biomed students. Please send an email to Chemistry and you will be added to the course.

  • For the 2011/12 Fall/Winter academic session, Comp Eng 4DM4 will NOT be offered. For students in the Comp Eng programs, this will be replaced with a Technical Elective.
