Graduate Students

I am currently looking to supervise a number of graduate students in the area of communication algorithm design, information theory and experimental prototype design for diffuse, point-to-point and pixelated MIMO wireless optical channels. Students with a keen interest in communications systems and practical modem design and skills in programming and mathematics are always welcome.

Presently I have openings for two PhD and one Masters candidate to study free-space optical and indoor optical wireless communications starting no later than Sept.2009. Students in this program will study communication and information theory for these channels and develop novel coding and modulation to overcome many channel impairments. Also, we have recently received funding to construct a 2km, 2Gbps free-space optical link on campus. Students with and interest in Verilog and communication systems are encouraged to apply.

Interested students with a strong academic record and a publication track record should email me to find out more details.
