Dr. Max Wong has just received notification from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in Germany to say that he is the recipient of the prestigious Humboldt International Research Award.
The award will be presented next June in Berlin by the President of the Federal Republic of Germany.
The description of the award from the Foundation is as follows:
"The Humboldt Research Award honours the academic achievements to date of internationally recognised scientists and scholars whose fundamental discoveries, new theories, or insights have had a significant impact on their own discipline and who are expected to continue producing cutting-edge achievements in future. A not insignificant number of the award winners has subsequently been granted a Nobel Prize. The research award programme takes particular account of the needs of the international academic elite. The award winners are invited to spend time for research in Germany."
The award is valued at 60,000 EUR.
Congratulations from everyone in ECE!
