Active Badge System -
Provides a means of locating individuals within a building by determining
the location of their active badge which transmits a unique IR signal every

Among other projects, developed a diffuse wireless infrared link called
'eduPAD' for accessing publications and distributing assignments in a
teaching setting.
Infrared Communications Flight Experiment -
a diffuse wireless optical link was tested on the space shuttle Discovery
(STS-26) in September 1988 to determine if it could provide a convenient means
of maintaining a wireless voice channel inside the shuttle. See also

A pager-sized personal digital assistant which communicates via wireless,
diffuse IR to provide in-room bi-directional connectivity at 19.2kbps.
Serves as a wireless terminal to applications running on host servers.
