          On Research Leave 2003-2004

I have taught a number of undergraduate and graduate courses, mostly in the areas of analog/digital communication, data structures in C, engineering optimization, information theory and coding. I have also taught a tutorial course on wireless data communication for industry.

My research interests lie in the union of large-scale optimization, information theory and coding, data communication and signal processing. I am a member of the Advanced Signal Processing for Communications group consisting of many active researchers/students/visitors. Click here to view a list of my current research topics/projects.

I am a member of IEEE, SIAM and MPS. Presently I am serving as an associate editor for Journal of Optimization Theory and ApplicationsSIAM Journal on Optimization, Mathematics of Computation, Mathematics of Operations Research, IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, and Optimization and Engineering.

My research has been funded by various government agencies and industrial partners including NSERC, CITO, CFI, ORDCF, DREO, DREV, Canada Research Chair program and Nortel Networks. I also have international collaborative funding from Japan.

If you are interested in working with me, you should first read this page where I have complied answers to a list of frequently asked questions. Please do not call or email unless you have read this page and you believe you are qualified.
