ELEC ENG 4TK4: Digital Communication Systems 

Course Objectives:

   To understand the basic structures and fundamental principles of modern digital communication systems, and to learn the commonly used techniques of modulation, source coding, and channel coding. Also, to understand the concepts of information, entropy and channel capacity, and to use them to study communications and coding.

Assessment:

            One mid term test - 15%         Nov.2, 17:00-19:00, T28/001   (Students who have a class that night may take the exam from 8pm to 10pm in ITB/A311 the same day.)

            Two project reports - total 20%          Project 1 (due Oct. 19, 2009)             Project 2 (due Nov. 23, 2009)

            Participation and tutorial - 5%       4 random checks: 5 points if miss zero or one, 3 points if miss two, 1 point if miss three, and 0 point if miss all                        

            Final examination - 60%
