Salah Hessien, MSc Student

Salah Hessien is currently a MSc student in the Fanus Research Lab, Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at McMaster University under the supervision of Dr. Mohamed Hassan. Salah was born in Cairo, Egypt, in 1988. He received his B.Sc. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt, in 2010. In 2012, Salah joined Wimatek Systems Inc. (dba Riot Micro), B.C., Canada, as a Digital Hardware Design Engineer, he worked on LTE technologies for the cellular Internet of Things market. He participated in the development of an LTE Wireless System on Chip solution to meet requirements related to the Company’s technology, and provide and perform other duties such as architecture planning, Design and HW Implementation of LTE physical layer algorithms, RTL code review and optimization, develop and execute testing plans for HW blocks. Salah continued working with Riot Micro until December 2019 as a part-time Senior Hardware Design Engineer and has contributed to the success of several chip tape-outs. From May 2014 to December 2019, Salah worked at Texas A&M University at Qatar (TAMUQ) as a senior research associate engineer. He has been worked on several research projects such as optical wireless communication systems, cyber-physical systems, smart transportation systems. His research focus on building simulation tools, testbed, and experimental setups to address the fundamental challenges of these systems for novel emerging interdisciplinary technologies such as artificial intelligence, and free-space/UWVLC optical communication systems.
